Christian Children's Counselor
Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Counselor who will align with our mission and values while offering effective and empathetic care to our young clients. The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of child psychology and therapeutic strategies, combined with a deep respect for and commitment to our Christian ethos.
You will need to possess:
  • A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • A valid Georgia license as a professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or social worker. 
  • Experience in working with children in a therapeutic setting
  • ​Excellent understanding of child psychology and therapeutic strategies
Responsibilities
  • ​Responsible to work 20-30 hours weekly
  • ​Care for clients assigned to your caseload
  • ​Treat children with mental or behavioral health issues
  • ​A commitment to building a client-base
  • ​Use therapeutic strategies that are compatible with our Christian ethos and values
  • ​Conduct assessments and therapeutic sessions for children experiencing behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges
  • ​Guide children and families experiencing dysfunction
  • ​Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and ongoing feedback
  • ​Refer to other providers and debrief them on client history when necessary
  • ​Collaborate with the Clinical Director or other counselors on staff on difficult cases
  • ​Maintain comprehensive, confidential records of all sessions
  • ​Document sessions, phone calls, or other pertinent interactions concerning the client
  • ​Meet with the appropriate primary care provider when needed to discuss treatment
  • ​Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other relevant adults in the child's life to ensure comprehensive support
  • ​Attend continuing education courses and professional development opportunities
  • ​Read books and articles concerning the counseling field
  • ​Attend weekly team meetings and fill out weekly check-in sheets
  • ​Ability to build rapport and establish trust with children and their families
  • ​Strong commitment to Christian values and principles
  • ​Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ​Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • ​Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards set by relevant professional bodies
Preferences (not required):
● Licensed to practice counseling in GA.
● Certification or experience in play therapy, art therapy, or other creative therapeutic modalities.
● Familiarity with Christian counseling approaches.
● Fluency in a second language.
